Child’s Shorts from Table Napkins

I found these fabulous table napkins at my local op shop. Fantastic, bright colours in really good nick. I had 6 serviettes, so made three pairs of pants for my kids. I generally make the same size shorts/pants for both my children, as when nappies are accounted for, they are the same size.

I made them as long as I could, so that they would last. So they have ended up being pants for my elder child, who is three. They will fit MrJ, who is 18months, if I roll them up. Can you guess that the last pair I cut from another pattern was too small? These are HUGE. But cute.

(Clearly, the blue pants have already been worn and washed, and the green are still pristine…)

Love the way you recycle things. I came across a cool idea for making boys cool graphic t-shirts from my husbands old ones that he doesn’t fit anymore. Cool Kids clothes are crazy expensive. It’s ridiculous.

Recycling clothes into kids clothes is money for jam. (Not that I sell them, mind). A lot of kids clothes I find in shops are about dressing kids as little adults, which I don’t like. They only have a few years to wear polka dots, and bright stripes, and pictures on their bottoms. So I don’t intend for them to miss it!

I found some more table napkins at my favourite op shop (which is on the expensive side for clothes, but cheap for napery. So I will be making some more pants for the boy, and I will think up something special for the girl. Matching outfits are a bit Sound of Music. I guess that’s another thing you can only do when you are little.
